When we think of ourselves in this way, then we can allow the beautiful flow of both. With this said, we may not always allow the expansion mode as this is really where we communicate with our soul. Meditation is a great way to do this, but I've also explained another way where we can allow the expansive feelings throughout the day. First, get yourself grounded and centered, and then close your eyes. Feel the aliveness from the center of the earth by picturing a golden or white light coming up from the core. Then allow this light to move through you as it moves through your heart, your third eye and then all the way through your crown chakra. Allow this light to burst into colors, and fill the sky with its essence. Picture it as having no boundaries, and that it touches everything. Once it can't get any larger, then allow it to contract and bring it back into your body so that your cells feel the expansiveness of what you created. You can do this expand and contract technique all day long as you picture different things expanding and contracting. Just allow the things to expand to Infinity and beyond :).
